Theory A–B Exercise

Use this exercise to record your fears and assumptions about the problem under "Theory A". Use "Theory B" to decide whether the problem is actually maintained by rumination, worry, or self-doubt.

The shaded rows show a worked example. Complete the white sections with your own answers.

  • Acknowledge that I can't always be in control or know everything.
  • Stay in the present rather than dwelling on the past or future.
  • Replace worry with problem solving.
  • Choose to tolerate and normalise my anxious feelings.
