Professional Profile

My name is Steven and I am a fully qualified and BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT). I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR). My clinics are held in Finsbury Circus, London EC2. I also provide CBT online via Skype and video link.

I have a keen interest in integrating scientific knowledge with traditional therapeutic wisdom.

Having trained in CBT at King's College’s Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN) I have an in-depth understanding of the theory, research and practice of CBT as applied to Anxiety problems and Depression.

I have additionally undertaken training ‘third wave’ forms of CBT, including Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which emphasise the importance of understanding of thought processes, the sciences of brain, body and evolutionary development.

In addition to my training in CBT, my experience of EMDR has also led me to have an integrated approach to therapy, that starts by trying to build a relationship based on kindness, respect and positivity.

In seeing people as individuals going through a uniquely human experience, I try to understand others’ experiences and distress whilst offering support, insight and tools to overcome distress.

Having initially trained within a brief CBT / coaching framework of CBT, this means that my approach to therapy is often very practical, strength-focused and pro-active.

I have worked successfully across London and the South East in NHS services and privately over the past decade.
